FAQ

Questions this build actually raised

Answered from the code rather than from a marketing brief. Where the answer is unflattering it is still the answer.

Using it

Do I need an account?

Yes. The terminal is behind a sign-in. It is free, it takes an email and a password and nothing else, and everything you save — watchlists, saved screens, notes and layout — stays on this install rather than in one browser.

Where is the login page?

At /login, /signin, /signup, /register or /forgot-password — all of which land on /account, which is the real page. It renders sign in, create, reset, onboarding and the tier table from one module depending on the state you are in.

On a brand-new install with no accounts yet it shows "Set up this terminal" instead of a sign-in form, because there would be nothing to sign in to. The first account created becomes the operator, and there is no default admin and no seeded password.

Is the data real-time?

No, and no delayed source is. Quotes arrive on whatever schedule the source publishes — for most that is fifteen minutes delayed or worse, and for some it is daily. Every screen stamps its as-of. The disclosures page covers what that means for a figure computed from two inputs of different ages.

Why is a figure I expected missing?

Because it could not be traced to a real response. The alternative — rendering a zero, a dash, or a plausible-looking placeholder — has put "100% equity financed" on screen for a company that could not be priced at all. A stated gap is the software working.

Data and accuracy

Where does the data come from?

36 primary sources, every one of them named on the methodology page with its licence, its cadence and its known limits. Most need no API key at all. Nothing is scraped from a paid terminal and nothing is redistributed.

Can I trust the numbers?

Trust them as far as you would trust the source they name, and no further. The arithmetic is in this repository and you can read it. No accountant has reviewed it and no auditor has attested to it. Verify anything that matters against the primary filing — every screen links it.

Does it cover markets outside the US?

London, India (NSE and BSE) and Euronext, with the currency handling that requires — including GBp, which is pence and not pounds, and which was out by a factor of one hundred until it was caught. Coverage is honest rather than complete: where a source does not carry a market, the screen says so.

Why does a valid ticker return nothing?

Sometimes the line no longer exists. TATAMOTORS.NS returns zero bars at every timeframe because the October 2025 demerger retired it; TMPV.NS is the live line. The route answers with a named source and a stated reason rather than an empty success, and no rename table papers over it.

Privacy, cost and running it

What do you collect about me?

Your browser talks to this server and, on three screens only, to two asset providers: CARTO for the GEO and TMAP basemaps and jsDelivr for the Quant Sandbox runtime. There is no analytics script, no tag manager, no third-party font and no embedded widget on any page. The one record kept about how you use the terminal is the activity log, which is off until you switch it on in Settings and is deleted when you switch it off. Everything stored in your browser is listed on the cookies page.

What does it cost to run?

The data is free. The electricity is yours. The only line that can cost money is the optional AI overview, which is off unless you configure a key — and the costs page carries the provider's own published rate and a worked per-summary figure.

The pricing page says "Paid." — how do I pay?

You cannot, yet. No payment processor is integrated in this software at all. The billing page explains what that means for the Desk and Operator tiers.

Is there a build step?

No, deliberately. No npm, no bundler, no framework. It is FastAPI and vanilla ES modules, and it renders with no network access. The one third-party library is vendored as a native ES module and served from this origin.
